«is a project by Karine Lebrun which began in 2012 as part of a larger research project entitled: “De l’auto-archivage immédiat comme œuvre” under the direction of Julie Morel, in collaboration with artists and teachers. At the time, The Global Library was part of an overall reflection on the archive in the age of the Internet, paradigm of a world of networks shaped by continuously flowing data streams that update in real time and are always available.Since 2014, the project has taken the form of a website and books documenting its developments. However, The Global Library has no fixed format and produces objects which are mostly ephemeral and contextual. The website is thus transitory and can be seen as a research notebook, open to the public, with one aim being to put into place archives of collections that are currently under construction. The Global Library focuses on art, with an eye to other preoccupations that nourish artistic research.»
